Physical Therapist

Tyrel Means, PT, DPT, FAFS, FMR

Tyrel (Ty) Means received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Angelo State University in 2009. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Angelo State University in 2012. He has a special interest in serving the orthopedic and sports population. He completed a Fellowship of Applied Functional Science through the Gray Institute in 2017. To earn this, Ty completed 40 weeks of self-study and weekend classes. Completion of this fellowship displays Ty’s expertise in functional biomechanics and sports medicine. He loves to incorporate his skills of integrative dry needling, cupping, kinesiotaping, and myofascial release into his treatments to best serve his patients.

Ty has worked in a variety of settings since becoming a licensed PT. He started his career in outpatient orthopedics, then became a traveling physical therapist for 4 years after marrying his wife, who is also a PT. He worked in 9 different states in acute care, SNFs, and outpatient clinics. Since traveling, he has spent his time in the outpatient setting in Fort Worth.

His approach to treating is to view the person as a whole and determine how to assist them to be more biomechanically efficient in order to recover from injury, improve performance at sports or recreational activities, and reduce pain.

During his free time, Ty enjoys making custom sneakers and woodworking. He likes to travel, cheer for his favorite college team, the Oregon Ducks, and spend time with his wife, one year old son, and 2 dogs.
